The
Subjugation of Women From Ancient Times to the
Seventeenth Century
[ send
me this paper ]
A 3 page discussion of the ancient and historic
subjugation of women. Contends that while differences
in the societal roles between men and women may at one
time have been justifiable, this justification has not
been valid for centuries. Points out change became a
particularly obvious part of the Victorian Era.
Concludes that different women took different
approaches to effect the changes which they saw as
necessary in regard to their traditional gender roles
in the Victorian Era. While many chose to stay in the
home in the same role they had occupied for years,
others sought jobs, and still others sought education.
In comparison to the women's movement which we know
today, the women's movement of this earlier time was
muted to say the least. Never-the-less progress was
made and women slowly began to carve their own niche
into society as a whole. Bibliography lists 1 source.

Women
and the California Gold Rush
[ send
me this paper ]
15 pages in length. a fascinating account of the
little-told stories of the women that were in
California at the time of the gold rush. Contrary to
popular belief, not all of them were saloon girls and
prostitutes; there were some who had legitimate
businesses such as boarding houses and laundries, and
others were searching for gold themselves. All in all,
the women have a fascinating tale to tell as well, and
it is all too often forgotten. Bibliography lists 6
sources.

Women
At The Top
[ send
me this paper ]
An 18 page paper. Women represent almost half of the
entire workforce in the United States but less than 3
percent of American CEOs are women. The percentage is
expectedly even less in Japan. The executive level is

to break through. This paper discusses those barriers.
Three female CEOs (two American, one Japanese) are
profiled with information about others who have
reached high executive levels, including Carly Fiorina
who is the first women in history to lead a Dow 30

break through the glass ceiling is discussed.

Women
In Early America
[ send
me this paper ]
During the revolutionary era, at a time when North
Americans proclaimed liberty and political
participation as their birthright, women remained
separate from the institutions of political life. This
7 page research paper examines the sociopolitical
oppression of women and the beginnings of feminist
activism in the United States. The writer discusses
womens' productivity in the 19th century, the first
school mistresses, and more. It is argued that women
essentially created a female sub-culture which
redefined the meaning of public life itself.

Women
in Non-Traditional Careers
[ send
me this paper ]
5 pages in length. Women can earn a lot more money as
machinists or auto mechanics than they would as clerks
or child-care workers, and according to one estimate
this amounts to almost a half-million dollars more
over a lifetime. So why aren't more women entering
into non-traditional careers? Vocational educators are
striving to recruit more girls into their trades
programs, and the federal government wants employers
to hire more women into their skilled trades positions
as well. This is because women are approximately
forty-five percent of the workforce but fifty-seven
percent of the people in poverty. And they are only
two percent of the skilled trades workers.
