Circumcision Among the Olinkans

that the author is a nurse who is spending a year as a
health practitioner to the Olinkan tribe. The author
must state a position relative to the subject of
female circumcision, a practice of the Olinkans. The
writer gives both sides of this issue, but comes down
unequivocally against female circumcision, or as it is
more accurately called, female genital mutilation. In
making this argument, the writer uses "Tashi"
from Alice Walker's "Possessing the Secret of
